As you come to, you see that you stand on the doorstep to a large palace. You’re also dressed up! The outfit is a little different for everyone, but it’s obvious- this is a maid outfit(or a butler outfit, if you want!), and you are standing in front of your next job.
Looking around, you can see the palace is floating in the air; with the ground below lit up by flickering lights that bounce off of the crystals that have overtaken what resembles the Tokyo-F you are familiar with at night. They seem to sway and jump about more like fireflies than lightbulbs, and they are too far below to really examine closely, but your goal lies ahead of you anyway. The Palace is also encased in gemstone- blues and purples and whites that seem to have some kind of ambient lighting from inside, just bright enough against the darkened sky to show where the seams are so that you may enter the wide, towering double doors looming before you.
---------------
The double doors open easily for you. Too easy, they’re far too large for your strength alone to move, but they move anyway, and you enter the entrance hall. It’s grandiose of course, all white marble interlaced with gold, with many various crystals jutting up from the ground, and one large crystal stalactite hanging from the ceiling, serving as a sort of chandelier. There is a staircase before you, right through the middle of the room, splitting into two ways at the landing. Most of the room is not navigable, due to the crystals jabbing into the air, but there is something that should draw your attention first:
On the landing stand two figures. They both are wearing jester costumes and masks but may be familiar to you; The one in the smiling mask has long hair, braided and tied in a ponytail, the color of moonlight, and the one in the frowning mask has his silvery-pink hair cut shorter, with it longer on his right.
“Welcome to our Illustrious Emperor’s Palace~☆” The smiling simulacrum says from behind his mask, though the sound isn’t muffled in the least.
“Don’t mess anything up, heathens”, The frowning one speaks up, also without muffling, though his tone is quite a bit more terse than Wataru’s was.
“Fufufu, what our friend here means is that we’re having a spot of trouble cleaning up, and that is why we’ve brought you here! We’ve managed to get this lovely foyer all cleaned up, but if His Majesty sees his theater or the common area…”
The pink-haired masked stranger finishes the thought. “Just do your job. You were hired for a reason. Go see the Emperor in his throne room once you are done.” There are three accessible doors in this room, two beneath the staircase and one on either side of the split stairs after the landing. A fourth door exists but the crystals cover it completely, and there seems to be no weak point in that mass. “You may get supplies in the broom closet under the stairs, to your left”, the blue-haired one speaks up, motioning with a hand in the… general direction of the door beneath the stairs. “It might help!”
[The two stand there, their expressions unreadable due to the masks, though their heads track her as she goes.
The door underneath the stairs is just a supply closet, as you were told! Nothing too wild here, but there are plenty of supplies for cleaning. You can find: -A broom -A bucket -Soap and window cleaner -A hose(you can get water to fill the bucket here) -A vacuum -Feather dusters(very important for a good maid) -Rags and sponges -A leaf blower -A roomba -A step ladder -Whatever other cleaning garbage you can think of that I didn’t list here specifically.
You can take whatever you want! Or nothing at all! I’m not your dad, live your best life. Also will you REALLY get paid???]
The door on the right looks…. Like an elevator door, weirdly. Like the inside elevator door, with numbers and open/close buttons on the wall next to it.]
That room is used more often, so of course it gets messed up. Just press the open button to get in.
[None of the other buttons seem to work, and they let out a soft beeping noise when you press anything other than the open one. To the Common Room!]
I suppose I could have started with a certain fetishistic quality to it, of both class division and feminine-coded labor, and also the fact that this skirt makes me look even shorter, but I figured I'd start with the fact that I hated that decade.
I'm Hope, BAD END=DEAD END—I don't think I've met most of you apart from... Lily, I think, and your Tequila Sunrise. Albeit the latter was only over video games.

[He absolutely will pause, as if in tableau. He stops moving completely, even seeming to stop breathing as you head to the supply closet.

[The other door is completely covered in crystal! It is quite impassable. The two NPCs there pause and look at each other, then peering at Emet before the Tenn-clone speaks.]
I have a suspicion is it in the theater if the common room was taken care of, but I would still inspect regardless. Besides, Hope is already attending to that.
Welcome to the stage! Well, when you walk in here, you are backstage. It is a warm, comfortable place for the most part, despite the thick layer of dust that covers nearly everything. This room is oddly devoid of crystals, instead lit with the yellowing bulbs that surround a small mirror and the blinding overhead lights that flood the stage. The first thing you notice as you look from the side of the stage onto where the ‘performances’ must happen is that there are four mannequins on stage, nude and faceless, with wigs and heights that mark them as members of fine, Eichi’s unit from home.
The one depicting Eichi himself is wearing a crown, and holding a sword, pointed out towards the curtains, and the audience beyond.
The curtains are currently drawn closed. Looking around, you can find a chest and just racks of costumes hidden from the stage, and a number of props. Everything here is clearly made to be safe and also just for show, so none of it is USEFUL in any way other than to set up a set, but it’s all here. There seems to be a set for a sort of comedy play, and a set for a drama.
[He'll start with using the feather duster to brush off all four mannequins, crown, and sword. And then he'll exaggeratedly shake out like sheets a set of costumes for a drama.]
[What a good maid! With the feather duster and everything! As he's dusting, it's easy enough to see that while most of the things here like the crown made of costume jewelry and mannequins themselves are just props, fit for the stage. The sword, on the other hand, is very much a real sword, sharpened to a deadly point.]
[Somewhere, Eichi is loving this probably. It's amazing how domestic it all is, though! Everything is cleaned without a hitch, and Emet successfully brightens the place by making sure the bulbs are in place and dusting them off.]
[The chest is for props and set dressing! It has a lot of drapes of various colors, some fake bones because why not, microphones that are not connected to anything else, a rubber chicken or two, some juggling balls, and honestly just whatever else you could imagine fit into a chest meant for the stage, but not anything too terribly valuable or fragile.]
[Past the curtain is a small auditorium audience of empty seats. It’s inside the palace after all, so it can’t be as big as the Emperor wishes it was, but it is enough. In the back of the auditorium there is a door. A magnificent door, quite large and covered in gold filigree, but encrusted in organic-looking crystals. It is cold to the touch, whether you actually try to open it or not, as if it leads outdoors into some frozen wasteland. It can be opened, though it is heavy.]
[The door opens up into a hallway... Emet might find it familiar. He did visit Eichi in a dream he had in a hospital room, after all. The hallway has another door at the opposite end, and an open doorway in the middle of the hall. It is hard to see any other details without going through.]
Ah, we've got the common area sorted out. I think Intensity was just looking at one more thing, but I wanted to see if there was any help needed over here.
He's beyond there though sick in bed. Apparently their are flowers growing in his ribcage. It is probably best if we uproot them. I imagine that is what the cleaning refers to.
I'm glad you took care of the common room then.
[He motions to the mannequins.]
I dusted and dressed them, but if you can think of other ways to make the place better, go right on ahead. The sword is real should you need it to cut anything.
...well, it might not be bad for cutting flowers, in fact. The roots of the ones we found in the common area were quite long, although they were easy enough to pull up. What sort of flowers?
[The costumes left on the rack are things like clown outfits, togas, some avante-looking period clothes, suits, swimsuits, and other such things that you should probably not use for an idol performance.]
she's a little interested in what they could mean, considering it seems like she was right about the dust covers. maybe she doesn't know him well enough for this, but she's going to try pulling some of them off the rack. let's start with the period-piece clothes. ]
[She's just got some costumes in her hand! Thankfully this place has already been cleaned at least, so there isn't a big puff of dust when they're pulled off the rack.]
[The curtains opening do make the theater look a little more comfortable! The auditorium beyond there is empty, but the only performers are mannequins, so it all checks out.]
[The sword doesn't come free easily. When Emet tries to pull it away, vines manifest all around the sword, and up Eichi-mannequin's arm. They're only plant vines though, and can be untangled with some effort.]
[As the vines and sword are removed, the plant blackens, slowly falling to ash, leaving Emet with only the sword, and some ash which has fallen on his recently-cleaned floor.]
This room is actually cleaned up now, though. Dishes in the sink, clothes put away, and the plastic coverings are gone, leaving the room clean and comfortable!]
The door opens up to a room that is a mix of a common area and living room resembling the BARiTONES dorm, all in deep reds with low lighting, with plush furniture and a small bar. There are various rooms for many different people with card readers that bar your entrance; a room for each member of BARiTONES, past and present, and nameplates also include the names of their ‘accessories’, but the most striking thing about this room is that every single piece of furniture bears a plastic covering such as one might see in an older home to preserve their cleanliness.
The bar is stocked with alcohol, though it is all just plain alcohol, and on the side of the bar there is a kiosk similar to the sort you might find to play games in any public bar with a hands on the front of it like a trash can’s. Opening it, you could not fit something the size of a person in there, but the bottom looks dark, as if it extends into a void, and the screen tells you that you can add dorm upgrades here, so long as you give up something for payment, without saying what it is that it requires for payment.
As it is a more lived-in space, it does look the part. Despite the plastic coverings, there are cups laying empty here and there, and a number of the chairs have clothing draped over the back or the arms. On the end tables near the chairs, there also are plates with silverware. Behind the bar is a small sink, if you wanted to wash any dishes!
In the back of the room is a door forward, standing no larger than any of the doors to the rooms but lined in gold.
[ she had no idea what baritones looked like, unlike me, who spent a lot of time thinking about what baritones looks like
she, however, has to wonder why there are so many extra rooms for other people. well, might as well start with the tidying up. she's going to collect the dishes and start washing them. ]
[It's a palace! Obviously you have to have a bunch of extra rooms. This is too many rooms, but that's fine. They're locked so you probably aren't supposed to clean them anyway!
The dishes do not pose much of a challenge, not covered in food or anything at least.]
once she's done washing them, she'll put them away tidily, and then go pick up some of the assorted clothes. is there a laundry bin or chute or some obvious place to put them? ]
[Intensity meanwhile is going to flop on the nearest plastic furniture and get comfortable while the vaccuum and roombaBlower 9000 do something like this.
Aka imagine the extenders and utensils of the vaccuum moving around things and depositing them near the sink for Hope to clean.
[It isn't a particularly good gaming kiosk, mostly offering "dorm upgrades" for this room(set of rooms) for the low, low price of throwing something into the void garbage, but you could probably get it to do solitaire too.]
[Science(?) achieved! Pulling on one of the covers, it turns into a lotus flower in Hope's hand, roots draped over the furniture, entangling itself on it.]
she's going to carefully untangle the roots from around the furniture, if she can. and once she does that she's going to try to dunk it down the void chute. ]
[The void chute is not a bad place for it, especially as it begins to blacken when the roots are removed, and as it falls down the chute, it turns to ash, disappearing into the darkness.]
[This room is more or less how it is in the waking world, including all of the strange things Eichi keeps in his room such as the painting Fox did of him(nude, I am so sorry), numerous weapons(an axe, a spear, a cane sword, and a pocket pistol), and just SO MANY idol tsumtsums, including the two of Wataru and Tenn in maid outfits set aside. You will probably notice the biggest difference being some really heavy-duty locks on the inside of the door, meant to keep others out.]
[Look, can Kaiba judge anyone with a big ego? I mean, yes, he can. But SHOULD he.
Anyway, in the spirit of cleaning, he will tidy everything and make sure that everything is organized. And probably that the weapons are kept on one side of the room and tsumtsums on the other.
Compartmentalization is important.
And when he leaves, he doesn't quite shut the door all the way - making sure Hope has cleaned all of the bad shit out of the common room.]
[When he opens that door, he is transported to what looks like a hospital hallway. There is another door on the other end of the hall, and in the middle of the hall, on the opposite wall, is an open doorway.]
[This door opens up to the back of the auditorium in the theater! This theater is fairly bright, and has been dusted, the mannequins dressed, and Hope is in the back checking out costumes right now!]
[ is there any slipcover left over the rest of the furniture? If so, she'll pull that off, too and do the same; if not, perhaps there are... dorm upgrades to be purchased...? ]
[The same happens to each one, the plastic covers turning to lotuses, and then those flowers turning to ash as they're thrown away. At least they make it to the chute so there is not that extra to vacuum up! Though the Turbo Roomba would make quick work of that.]
actually, while the low lighting seems like mood lighting, once she's dusting her hands of that, she's going to see if she can find a place to turn up the lights, based on what his unitmate said. ]
[It is possible to brighten up the mood lighting! Just like any lighting fixture that can be dimmed or brightened, there is a dial on the wall for it.]
[ honestly, mood lighting is overrated. she's going to fold these clothes and stack them neatly on one of the chairs at the bar, though, and then look and see if there's anything else out of place. ]
[That's all that seems to be out of place here! Between Hope and the Turbo Roomba, the dishes and clothes are picked up and the room is otherwise in order.]
[The two NPCs are still there as you pass through and Wataru's double waves as you pass but does not interrupt on your way to the theater, where Emet is also headed!
Also, it is not dusty anymore and the mannequins are dressed.]
[This room is more or less how it is in the waking world, including all of the strange things Eichi keeps in his room such as the painting Fox did of him, numerous weapons(an axe, a spear, a cane sword, and a pocket pistol), and just SO MANY idol tsumtsums, including the two of Wataru and Tenn in maid outfits set aside. You will probably notice the biggest difference being some really heavy-duty locks on the inside of the door, meant to keep others out.
The room seems to have been organized a little, his weapons on one side of the room, far from the tsumtsums, and there is a pile of neatly-folded clothes in here for Eichi to put in his drawers or closet sometime.]
'Tis curious. Our paths are so close to each other but they only seem to touch briefly as they wind through their own course of life. But that makes it not less impactful.
I could poetically wax on how you were stern yet honest when we first met, how much you've grown, how proud I am of you of what you have accomplished and for allowing love to fill your heart. All of it true. I hope love does fill your heart for as long as you live.
But most importantly I wanted to thank you. For listening. For being patient with me. For never judging my actions to harshly. Though of course you could! I held my secrets from you, and you agreed to give me the benefit of the doubt anyway.
And perhaps in private you scowl and shake your head at how I can be so foolish. That I could think for a moment you didn't see through it. But I appreciate it nonetheless. It's a quiet kindness, but one that has been impactful.
The best of luck with following your heart and may it bring contentment wherever it takes you. And I do mean it when I say my door is open any night should you ever want for company,
Hades
He's leave the rest of the room as is and the door ajar as he goes into his own room.]
Emet's room is a nice and comfortable one; set up like the default BiT room but a little roomier, with warmer and dimmer lighting. He hasn’t yet taken Emet up on sleeping in his room, so he can’t be certain of what he has in here, but in this version of Emet’s room there is a small library and a piano.]
[He will leave it all untouched except he will sit at the piano and play a simple tune. It's absolutely beginner, but he just lets the sound fill the quiet space.]
Eichi is here sitting in his hospital bed, hooked up vaguely to some odd machine similar to life support as one might see in the media, and staring out the window behind him. The moon and stars can be seen through that window, as well as the soft glow of the crystallized city below. He finally turns his head to regard you all, looking for the life of him too tired and wasted away to hold any expression on his face.
“Oh, you’re here”, he says, turning his head to greet you and forcing a smile on his face.
[There are papers, though they don't really seem to make any sense. The words are all jumbled up, not forming any kind of language, and the only pictures that can be found is an x-ray of Eichi's chest, in which flowering vines entwine through his ribs and over his spine.]
.........
[Eichi ponders the question for a bit, mulling it over.]
.............. I would like to rest, finally. If you could just. [It's cruel to ask of someone else, isn't it?]
[Buddy, he will wear something similar when they are done with this. Pretty sure Yvette already has something in his size.
He takes the star and puts it in the bed with him before giving him a fond smile and heading back to the hallway. If there are no other unexplored doors, he'll head back to the Theater.]
Regardless of which door you passed through in order to get here, you have arrived in a hallway. This is similar to the BARiTONEs dorm once more, with wine-red walls and yellowed wall sconces lighting your way to what could be called the ‘throne room’, though it does not resemble anything like that. Instead, it is a small lounge, with a number of places for seating all around and a piano up on a small stage. How many stages does one need in their palace?
Eichi is seated at the piano, seeming to be warming up, or otherwise trying to write music himself from the way he stops and goes at random intervals, repeating some notes here, changing it up there before stopping to look at you
But also, I just wanted to meet the young fellow to whom all this belongs. I don't think we've met, but I do hope you're feeling a bit better about the state of things.
Well, I can offer that easily enough, then. My sincerest thanks, for everything... I am truly grateful for your assistance in cleaning this place up, and in getting rid of some pervasive pests.
[Eichi thinks about that, tapping at his chin and tilting his head to a side.]
Mmmh, they've never NOT respected my privacy, but I've always had the locks on, too. [Shrugs.] Is that what you wanted from me...? To ask about my room?
The things I have done, the cruelty I have inflicted on others was once so truly terrible and utterly inescapable that I forced many to throw themselves from a rooftop, rather than live in my world. I am the reason Itsuki Shu acts the way he is, how I shattered him. And I gave birth to Tsukinaga Leo's paranoia. I've been the direct or indirect cause of much suffering.
I have a habit of wanting beautiful things so badly, that I when I catch them, I hold them too tight and crush them like butterflies in my fingers.
[He taps another few notes on the piano, thoughtfully.]
....... I don't think I can change, because despite all of the heartbreak, I am still doing the same thing. Except this time, maybe I can keep those dearest to me out of my way.
Speaking from the experience of someone who was left behind by someone who thought it would be better if they were to solve their problems themselves at the expense of their own life.
Don't.
. . .
Unless you really want to see what they're capable of, I suppose.
[He pauses, thinking on that and tapping on his piano again.]
....... I'll take that in mind. But I will try of course. I do not want to leave Tenn and Wataru behind, even if I am afraid that they might get burned if they stand too close.
I consider them my equals in strength and skill. They are just as powerful as I am, probably much moreso actually, though I think I have ambition beyond theirs. Nothing wrong with that, but it does mean they.... seem to follow my wishes? I don't really know how to compromise such a thing in my mind.
Did you know Wataru used his wish for me, when he graduated? After all of this, everything he had to go through, he still deferred to me, despite my being so...
['Inferior' is what he wants to say. But it's wild when you have both an inferiority and superiority complex, isn't it, Intensity?]
Making something from nothing... I've done it a few times now, but nothing is so hard as writing a new chapter of your own life.
[He sighs, turning to face Emet fully.]
I think so. But perhaps no physical battle. I could try to interpret it here, but I doubt I would come up with the right thing my heart is trying to tell me.

I suppose His Majesty the Emperor doesn't want to see our sorry faces until we've done his gruntwork?
Re: BEGINNING
[Not that he is giving out his name!]
He's a very busy man, so it's best not to disturb him until you're done! Then you can go and collect payment from him, I am sure~★

The door underneath the stairs is just a supply closet, as you were told! Nothing too wild here, but there are plenty of supplies for cleaning. You can find:

You wouldn't happen to know where I could find Honeysuckle, would you? Though I suppose it is disguised as something else.
Re: BEGINNING

It's close to his heart, isn't it?
Re: BEGINNING
I have a suspicion is it in the theater if the common room was taken care of, but I would still inspect regardless. Besides, Hope is already attending to that.
Re: BEGINNING
I mean that. It is somewhere close to his heart. Cutting through his chest. I hope you find it.
Re: BEGINNING
[He's just going back to the theater.]
THEATER
The one depicting Eichi himself is wearing a crown, and holding a sword, pointed out towards the curtains, and the audience beyond.
The curtains are currently drawn closed. Looking around, you can find a chest and just racks of costumes hidden from the stage, and a number of props. Everything here is clearly made to be safe and also just for show, so none of it is USEFUL in any way other than to set up a set, but it’s all here. There seems to be a set for a sort of comedy play, and a set for a drama.

You found them already. Good.
Well, I am off to look to see if we can't find anymore of the vines somewhere.

Re: THEATER
This room is actually cleaned up now, though. Dishes in the sink, clothes put away, and the plastic coverings are gone, leaving the room clean and comfortable!]
COMMON ROOM
Re: COMMON ROOM

Re: COMMON ROOM
Re: COMMON ROOM
My friend, Eichi,
'Tis curious.
Re: COMMON ROOM
Emet's room is a nice and comfortable one; set up like the default BiT room but a little roomier, with warmer and dimmer lighting. He hasn’t yet taken Emet up on sleeping in his room, so he can’t be certain of what he has in here, but in this version of Emet’s room there is a small library and a piano.]

[Eichi ponders the question for a bit, mulling it over.]
.............. I would like to rest, finally. If you could just. [It's cruel to ask of someone else, isn't it?]
I'm so tired of fighting it, Emet.
Re: cw: suicidal ideation
[He looks curiously at the x-ray.]
Though your current ailment is rather unique. I don't think I've seen flowers grow inside a person.
If you truly wish for this, I will grant you this reprieve. But if I can get rid of this infestation would that be enough to change your mind?
Re: cw: suicidal ideation
If you think you can.
[Eichi sounds skeptical, but he's tired.]
I imagine I would change my mind, yes.
Re: cw: suicidal ideation
Then relax. I'm not the only one here. And if I cannot accomplish the task, I will do as you ask.

Re: THRONE ROOM V2
Re: THRONE ROOM V2

Sometimes, you do not distance yourself from others because you think they are beneath you.

cw: talking about past suicides
I have a habit of wanting beautiful things so badly, that I when I catch them, I hold them too tight and crush them like butterflies in my fingers.
[He taps another few notes on the piano, thoughtfully.]
....... I don't think I can change, because despite all of the heartbreak, I am still doing the same thing. Except this time, maybe I can keep those dearest to me out of my way.
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
Intensity absolutely does not say.]
You don't think you can change...?
Ridiculous.
You're the only one who can change yourself.
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
I will try to take that in mind, but it hasn't worked so far. It is easy to say you will change yourself, but in practice it is quite difficult.
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
And you think that Tenn and Hibiki haven't figured this out?
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
But maybe they do not know how deep it runs. [Sighs.] What am I to do?
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
Don't.
. . .
Unless you really want to see what they're capable of, I suppose.
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
....... I'll take that in mind. But I will try of course. I do not want to leave Tenn and Wataru behind, even if I am afraid that they might get burned if they stand too close.
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
Do you consider them your equals?
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
I consider them my equals in strength and skill. They are just as powerful as I am, probably much moreso actually, though I think I have ambition beyond theirs. Nothing wrong with that, but it does mean they.... seem to follow my wishes? I don't really know how to compromise such a thing in my mind.
Did you know Wataru used his wish for me, when he graduated? After all of this, everything he had to go through, he still deferred to me, despite my being so...
['Inferior' is what he wants to say. But it's wild when you have both an inferiority and superiority complex, isn't it, Intensity?]
Re: cw: talking about past suicides
I think that means he's decided whether he wants to get burned or not.
Try not to make that choice for him.
Re: THRONE ROOM V2
[He takes a seat near the stage.]
But don't let me interrupt.
Re: THRONE ROOM V2
[He sighs, finishing a flourish on his piano and then setting his hands in his lap.]
It is hard, you know? Writing a new song from scratch.
Re: THRONE ROOM V2
If I might ask, why the sword? Is there a battle that you must give up in order to move forward?
Re: THRONE ROOM V2
[He sighs, turning to face Emet fully.]
I think so. But perhaps no physical battle. I could try to interpret it here, but I doubt I would come up with the right thing my heart is trying to tell me.
