From what Asmodeus tells me, the contents of the ritual don't truly matter -- as much as the belief of the people conducting it. I do want to make it convincing, of course.

I see. That is simple enough, I suppose. Of course, Heaven would rely on a system of "belief", so flimsy and unreliable, as some sort of gateway. And something self-sacrificing would be best for something like that too, considering the dogma of most modern religion being all about the lowering of oneself and lifting up of a useless, archaic idea of a benevolent divine being.

In any case, my target is one of our hosts- not the host of the production, but the games. You saw her before- the angelic-looking one who was in charge of our auction game~

"By any means necessary". And I've information on her abilities, magical and non-magic, as well as some tendencies that may help locate her.

[ laughs, swirling his glass ]

Asmodeus was feeling awfully chatty, wasn't he? Does she have any particular places that she frequents, or are you referring to other sorts of tendencies?

If you know the right things to ask and the way to ask them, I am sure he would be fairly chatty with you as well! It just turns out that perhaps he is not interested in basted angel, which is truly a shame, but I can make due with Exael. No genuine angelic parts, but I'm sure her wings would do just as well fried or baked with the right spices~

I haven't heard of any places in particular, but I have heard that she likes to break the rules by popping over here to our side from time to time, and I must just... find out where.

I must confess, I am a bit surprised. You would think that a demon would have more interest in consuming an angel than we would, considering their origins.

No, it makes sense. If you think of it, they are at war, aren't they? From what I hear, only one single agent of Heaven has been found. The rest are mysteriously missing- and where could they have gone? Are they planning anything? In war, this is much more important than feeding your appetite, no matter the sweet scent of the flesh of your enemy. This isn't about anything so simple and animalistic as predator versus prey, it is about domination.

And so we are going to be sent in as agents of Hell in the stead of the demons who probably could not manage to step foot on the hallowed ground. The single angel there would be a much more valuable prisoner than platter.

As for my assignment- A soldier who disobeys orders is as much a danger to the operation as numerous enemy soldiers, and so silencing her traitorous tongue by any means necessary is an understandable undertaking.

Now, while my particular tastes have gotten me a reassignment, I was not forbidden from undertaking a task other than my own, and I was told that it was up to my discretion on how to get my job done, and so. I can stem my monstrous appetite for long enough to do as you need me to, should you agree to assist me in my undertaking as well.

I see, I see -- so the task I did accept was suited for my ... discretion, with regards to my dietary habits. I do think it would be interesting to taste an angel, but I'm not so eager as to compromise my objectives for the sake of that. In the end, though, it seems that we've been given tasks that would suit our own personal styles.

I do believe we have an agreement, then. Asmodeus specifically directed me -- as you mentioned -- to either find that singular angel and retrieve them, or find some other sort on evidence on whether or not the "heaven" the others went on a field trip to was false or real.

Of course! It is just that my enthusiasm made me much more suited for assassination than kidnapping and reconnaissance. I think it is still quite within my wheelhouse to do, but I don't have the stamina necessary to carry a full person for long. Hit and run is more my tactic if I must employ direct, outright violence.

In the end, I am an Emperor, though. I am no spy, no soldier, and my talents lie in leadership, but I cannot do such a thing here and now. Not yet, but when the time comes, there will be no denying that is the role I am meant to fulfill.

Did our friend Yvette let you see the map she'd had? She said she would burn it once she showed me, so I wouldn't mention this task or our benefactor, if you were to speak to her about it.

Ah -- I'm afraid I didn't have a chance to see the map, if she has burned it at this point. But I'm not against doing a little digging and seeing if she recalls its contents, at the very least.

I also have as much of it recreated as I can, since I was sure we would need it more than we'd need to subvert the demons' plans.

But I am willing to put that aside in the interest of my ambitions. And I am putting myself out there, to allow you to know more than I'd like others to.

...In any case. [ He opens up his journal, in which there is a very very rough outline of the map that he'd seen, with various notes on it. It's rough, because it is a third person account and done by memory, but is fairly well blocked out. (I haven't done a write-up of this yet so uuuhhhh here is a link to what i was given haha) ]

Considering what you've said about Yvette showing this map to you, I'm surprised you memorized as much detail as you did.

I'm used to having to memorize choreography. It's a little different, but I knew this would come in handy later and so how'd this down at my earliest convenience. After all, if it is truly Heaven, why shouldn't we wish to explore it?

Precisely. And with how thorough Asmodeus implied he'd like me to be, it'll be useful knowledge to have ready.

It would be best to know the most that we can know about it, regardless of the devil's wishes. [ Eichi is of course playing nice, but. Asmodeus knows about Eichi's ambition. He must know then, how The Emperor would not willingly bow his crowned head. ]

I know enough to know that there is an edge to this heaven, as well. And that falling from it goes directly to Hell, so. That is quite interesting for it to be physically above it don't you think?

But we mustn't waste this chance, our keepers won't be interested in allowing us to play outside our cage more than they like, and not for long I'm sure.

I know this "hell and heaven" business is, traditionally, one above the other, but it's another thing entirely to have that physically be true, yes. Or at least, physically as far as we know.

And I don't intend to make waste of this opportunity at all. Even beyond Asmodeus's mission he's tasked me with, I have an interest as to what all this heaven business entails.

[what awaits eichi on the fourth floor of the hospital is not... what a hospital typically looks like. the rooms have all been stripped of their equipment and turned into art galleries. a plaque at the entrance proclaims this floor for members of taisho roman revolution, and indeed there's a lot of madder red painted on the walls in the hallway. there's a wing for shu, okami, and fox.
